During
the burn season, on site inspections will be performed by
fire personnel every year.
This means it is up to the applicant to maintain the conditions
of the burn site for the duration of the year in order to
remain within the parameters of the burning requirements.
After 1 year the burn site must be re-inspected before a new
permit
is issued.
Any
changes in burning location, materials being burnt, clearance
around burn pile or availability of water at site will need
to be re-inspected by fire personnel.
Burn permits are valid for a 90 consecutive day period. After
that period the applicant can apply for another permit by
filling out a new application at the Valley Center Fire Protection
District Office (Monday through Friday) 9:00am - Noon &
1:00pm - 4:00pm. Any questions? Please call 760-751-7600
The applicant must read and understand all rules and regulations
printed on the front and back of his or her permit.
The applicant is financially responsible for any damage, injuries
and/or suppression costs that occur due to an escape burn
and also, if burning outside the parameters of their permit.
Here is the list of requirements for burn sites:
Minimum of 30 feet bare mineral soil around burn pile.
Pile located away from structures, power lines/poles
and standing vegetation.
Water hose attached to a sufficient water source long
enough to encircle pile.
Material consists of brush for fire hazard reduction
or agriculture trimmings only.
Green material must have a minimum of 30-days drying
time.
Burn pile must be free of trash, lumber or any other
foreign materials.
Burn pile must be free of dirt, stumps and trunks.
